The RUT deduction is a tax reduction for household services that makes professional cleaning significantly cheaper: you only pay half the labour cost and we handle all the paperwork with the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket). Here we walk through how it works, with worked examples and answers to the most common questions.
We Clean Green's services in most cases qualify for a tax reduction under the rules for household services, known as the RUT deduction. That means you as a customer only pay 50 % of the labour cost to us. The tax reduction is handled through the payment solution in our app and is automatically reported to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) after each completed service – you don't need to apply for anything yourself.
The RUT deduction applies to household services in your home. Here's how it works for our services:
The RUT deduction is 50 % of the labour cost, up to SEK 75,000 per person per year. The combined cap for the ROT and RUT deductions is SEK 75,000 per person per year.
No. The deduction is applied directly when you pay in the app, and we report automatically to the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) after each completed cleaning.
Yes. The deduction is personal, so two adults in the same household each have their own cap of SEK 75,000 per year. Get in touch with us if you'd like to split the payment between you.
If you've used up your allowance for the year, you'll pay the full labour cost until a new calendar year begins. The Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) rejects deductions when there's no allowance left, and in that case we'll invoice you for the difference.
We Clean Green reserves the right to request additional payment from you as a customer if the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) rejects the tax reduction, for any reason.
Full terms are available at the Swedish Tax Agency's information on the RUT deduction.
